After doing battle with the seating chart (or, as I like to call it, the puzzle with feelings), you get to move on to the more fun part --- how to direct your guests to their assigned places. Here are some fun, DIY projects to point your guests in the right direction.
I think that every bride wants to serve her bridesmaids by choosing a dress for them that is cute, fun, flattering, affordable and, above all, wearable after the wedding. Here's a tip: a good way to find stylish and affordable dresses for your ladies is to look beyond the bridal retailer --- whose silhouettes and fabrics are predictable and whose prices are often high due to demand.
For chic, trendy and affordable dresses, look no further than Ruche. All of the dresses below are super cute, super wearable AND super affordable (pssst....they're all $60.00 or less!).
In case you haven't noticed yet, I think that clean, simple and nature-filled weddings are just to DIE for. So, when I came across this countryside-inspired wedding photoshoot by OnceWed, I nearly died from the loveliness. I just want to jump into these pictures, drink some sweet tea and eat some fruit cake with this couple. So, SO dreamy.
Where do I even begin with this wedding? Not only did this couple having the stinking cutest first look I've ever seen, but their wedding was a carnival, complete with a ferris wheel, snow cones and prize favors. Oh, and they released butterflies at their outdoor ceremony. In the woods.
I mean, come ON.
When it comes to planning the aesthetic quality of a wedding, I tend to shy away from sticking to just one block of color. However, lately I've been finding myself drawn to images of gorgeous, bohemian and fresh wedding details in lavender. It's such a lovely, understated, soft and feminine color.
Words can't even begin to express how excited I am to attend the grand opening of BHLDN Chicago tomorrow night! For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, BHLDN is the wedding brand of URBN, Inc. (i.e. the mother company of Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People and Terrain). As a family of brands, URBN, Inc. caters to modern-vintage, trendy and off-beat fashion-lovers, and BHLDN fits right in, offering trendy, vintage and off-beat wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, shoes, accessories, and decor. Love, love, love.
I can't WAIT to tell you all about the grand opening celebration, honoring the opening of the BHLDN store in Chicago on February 14th, 2012. For now, here is a glimpse of the swoon-worthy wedding goods available on bhldn.com:
Watch these wedding video creations by Our Labor of Love and Shark Pig, and I DARE you not to melt of the cuteness/charm/brilliance. I dare you. So, so, SO amazing.
For photos of this wedding, look here. This couple and this family love each other so much. Sigh.
I'll be honest --- I debated whether or not I should post photos from my own wedding on the website of my wedding planning business. In the end, I decided to go for it, if only to honor the work of our wedding photographer, Evan Hunt. My favorite thing about these photos is how they bring back the feelings of joy of the moments they capture. Looking back, the day still feels like a bit of a blur, but looking at these photos makes the memories come flying back.
Side note --- we got married on a rainy day, and I am SO glad we didn't let that prevent us from taking outdoor photos.
Thanks, Evan for capturing our day so beautifully. We couldn't be happier.
Although I love a good wedding tradition (like the idea of not seeing the bride before the wedding), I actually LOVE the concept of the "first look." Not only does it allow for more flexibility in the photo-taking schedule on the day of the wedding, but I think it's precious to have a (semi) private moment for the couple to enjoy before the madness of a wedding ensues.
John & I did a first look before our wedding, and I'm SO glad we did.
(P.S. Anyone recognize this bride....?)

If I could plan my wedding over again, there aren't many things I'd change. However, one thing I would consider changing is my bridesmaids' dresses. They were lovely gray dresses, but lately I've been seeing amazing photos of multi-colored, patterned and different colored bridesmaids dresses that fit more into a color pattern, rather than a single color block.
Love, love, LOVE these palettes.
